One of our favourite places in the day became a favourite at night too. The Living Desert has a lantern festival for six weeks in the spring. We chose last night to go. It seemed like a good night to go before the rain and wind storm our weather site predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday.
We wondered if we had made the right decision as the wind came up an hour before we left. Palm tree fronds were horizontal and the house was creaking as we headed out with our prepaid tickets. But we discovered something. Our location in Palm Desert must be close enough to the centre of the Coachella Valley that we get a lot of the wind while further away in the Living Desert, the trees were still and the weather perfect for an evening walk through the amazing silk lanterns.
